Study of Interlaminar Fracture Toughness Improvement on Fabric-Reinforced LaminatesAbstract: Fabric-reinforced was mainly discussed in this paper. The methods to enhance interlaminar toughness were introduced according to disadvantages of fabric-reinforced laminates and interlaminar fracture mechanism. The methods-three dimension fabric-enforced laminates, and sparse fabric-enforced laminates, layer-enforced laminates?to enhance the interlaminar toughness of fabric-reinforced laminates were discussed in this paper. The stitching method to enhance interlaminar toughness of stitched-laminates was mainly discussed in this paper based on our research and experiment. The middle-alkali glass fabric used as enforced-material with thickness of 0.2mm, 3 section 600 deniner Kevlar yarn is used as stitching thread in this research, which improved lock stitching way and different kinds of stitching mode were adopted. Ordinary non-saturation resign 306 was used as base material, super-oxidation 1,2-ketone was used as solidify material and cycloparaffm acerbity solution was used as advanced material. The experiment was conducted in R.T(Room temperature,25℃) and different kinds of stitching mode enforced-laminates were produced by way of RTM in this experiment. In this research the method to test and evaluate the Gic of the stitched-fabric-enforced laminates, the definition of the stitching-parameters, the testing clap were discussed according to the standard of ASTM. In addition, we got the useful experiment results of the GIC by using the clap which we designed in the research. The DCB (Double cantilever Beam) met hod to test the interlaminar toughness of fabric-reinforced laminates and the Modified Compliance Calibration Method(MCC) were adopted in this research. The double cantilever beam (DCB) test was executed for stitched laminates to evaluate the interlaminar fracture toughness. The stitch parameters (stitch line spacing and pitch spacing) were changed and theireffects on interlaminar fracture toughness were examined by means of DCB test by using improved insert type loading fixture. Improved stitch parameters were obtained in this research.
