The nozzle is a important part in a set of high-pressure water-jet equipment. Its quality influences other parts in system. In actually, excellent nozzle will obviously enhance jet efficiency. Though there are many kinds of nozzles, considering capability and manufacture, the needle-shape nozzle is widely used in engineering.The structure of needle-shape nozzle is studied in this paper. An experimental study on the needle-shape nozzle has been conducted, and the experimental results agree well with that of the theoretical analysis. The water-jet parameter include: volume flow rate of the water-jet flux(q) ; discharge coefficient of orifice(M); output power (Pjet) ; and impinging force (F) . Especially, the study on the needle-shape nozzle structural parameter is performed when the jet-pressure is changed. The nozzle structural parameter includes: nozzle diameter (d); length to diameter ratio(L/d; inlet angle and outlet diffusion angle. At last, the optimum structural parameter about needle-shape nozzle has been acquired.In addition , the experimental study on the spray characteristics of needle-shape nozzle is performed, especially analysis spray distance ; spray conical angle; spray particle diameter. Some experimental results are valuable thought. It is a beneficial quest in order to apply in engineering about needle-shape nozzle. The conclusion acquired in this paper about the needle-shape nozzle no matter what theory or engineering application will have important effect.
