This paper deals with the methods to recover rhenium from calcination fume of MoS2 concentrate. By analysis the property of components in the fume, a direct leaching rhenium process has been proposed. The dissolution rate of rhenium in the fume is up to 95%. Factors influence the leaching process such as the temperature, temporal change, ratio between liquid and solid etc. were tested in the lab. Under the proper condition, concentration of rhenium reaches to 170 mg/L. Ion exchange method is chosen to concentrate and separate from rhenium the leaching solution by ion exchange was selected. Factors such as the maximum ReO4- absorb amount by resin, the separation index of rhenium/molybdenum and pH value of the medium were considered in the experiment. In addition, the desorption process of rhenium from the loading resin was investigated. The results show that 717 anion exchange resin is fit for concentrating and separating rhenium from leaching solution, the separation index of rhenium/molybdenum of 717 resin is up to 98, the maximum rhenium amount absorbed on the resin reaches to 38mg/mL. The process recovers the rhenium in the fume effectively, which is beneficial to the industry. In addition, the principles of leaching and ion-exchanging process in resin are discussed too.
