This thesis analyzes the proprieties of smelting wastewater from Baotou Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Based on the principles and practices of smelting wastewater treatments, and the discharge standard, a series of experiments were performed, the result including:(1) According the Ecology Environment Development Plan and water quality requirement, the main water quality parameters were established, such as color, COD, SS, petroleum pollutant, Cd and Pb. The effluent goals include: Color<30, SS<10mg/L, petroleum pollutant<3mg/L, COD<50mg/L, Cd<0.05mg/L and Pb<0.1mg/L.(2) The treatment process includes sedimentation, coagulation, flotation and filtration. Based on the experimental results, a best available technology is provided for smelting wastewater treatment.(3) According a series of experiment results, the best available technology for smelting wastewater treatment from Baotou Iron & Steel Co., Ltd could express as:low water- primary settling- coagulationeffluent-filtration-flotation-sedimentationA satisfied removal efficiency of this process could gain, for example: SS<6.3mg/L, petroleum pollutant<0.8mg/L , as well as COD, heavy metal and Color.
