In this paper we firstly introduced the development of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and general synthesis of TTF macrocycles. The methodology allows us to synthesize the desired tetrakis(tetrathiafulvalene) macrocycles 40 and 45b-c in excellent yields. Because of the bad solubility of compound 40, we did not investigate its properties. For 45b its solubility is also not good enough, we studied its property by UV spectra, but was not successful. In the end, we synthesized compound 45c, which solubility is good, and we studied the inclusion ability of compound 45c for C60 by cyclic Voltammetry (CV), and found there indeed exist charge-transfer between them.
