A method for determination of ginkgolic acids by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography has been developed. Effects of mobile phase formation, mobile phase pH were discussed. The HPLC assay was performed on a reversed-phase Cig column using methanol - 4% aqueous acetic acid as mobile phase. The assay was successfully applied to determination of ginkgolic acids. Results indicate that the developed HPLC can be utilized as a quality control method for ginkgolic acids.A new method of separating ginkgolic acids by resin adsorption was reported. The performance of adsorption and desorption for ginkgolic acids with different polar microporous resins was compared in this paper. The result of static process show that the ADS-7 resin is the most suitable absorbent. All kinds of influenced factors of separating ginkgolic acids by the ADS-7 resin were studied. The best conditions were as follows: pH 2.5; NaCl 0.05mol/L; ginkgolic acids 5mg/mL. The aggregation of ginkgolic acid on ADS-7 resin obeys Langmuir monolayer adsorption. The dynamics process indicate that ADS-7 resin can separate well ginkgolic acids from GBE (Ginkgo Biloba Exact) after it has been used ten times. The comprehensive studies on the physical and chemical properties of resins including specific surface area, pore volume, average pore diameter and the functional groups were conducted by apparatus. The reason that why the resin named ADS-7 is the best is explained according to the theory of adsorption-desorption. amidocyanogen, the functional group of ADS-7, is fit for separating ginkgolic acids. The effect of the ADS-7 resin will be better if the sepecific surface can be increased.
