In this paper, the series of In:LiNbO3 crystals were grown by the Czochralski method and then the crystals were polarized and processed. The suitable temperature field, growth rate of the crystals and rotation rate were decided by a mount of experiment and theory analysis.Using X-ray diffraction, the phase analysis was proceeded for In:LiNbO3 crystals. It was shown that In:LiNbO3 crystals kept the same lattice structure with pure LiNbO3 crystal. But their lattice constants increased with the doped concentration of In. The infrared absorption spectra and ultra-visible absorption spectra were measured. It was analyzed that the absorption side of In: LiNbO3 doped with virous concentrations of In shifted in comparison with that of pure LiNbO3 in normal site after the Nb at Li site was substituted completely. The result was identical with X-ray diffraction analysis. The photodamage resistance ability of In: LiNbO3 crystals was measured by the holographity mehod and the directly observing facula distortion method. It was shown that the photodamage resistance ability of In(2mol%): LiNbO3 crystals was two orders of magnitude higher than that of pure LiNbO3 crystal. The second harmonic generation (SHG) properties of In: LiNbO3 crystals were investigated. The result shown that the SHG conversation efficiency of uncoating In(2mol%): LiNbO3 was 36% and the phase matching temperature of the crystal was 51癈. In(2mol%): LiNbO3 crystal was an excellent SHG crystal material.
