Since it is very important to make good use of the resources of water, the techniques of water treatment play an important role in most fields. The direction is environmentally friendly water treatment.New type water treatment agents polyperoxidacylic acid (PPAA) and peroxid-2-phosphonobutane-l,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PPB), which have carboxyl group have been studied in this paper. Relevant research has not been reported in literature early. The two new kinds of water treatment reagents have some value in the practical application of industry. The PPAA and PPB were been synthesized by the reaction of polyacrylic acid (PAA) or 2-phosphonobutane-l,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTCA) with hydrogen peroxide respectively. The concentration and stability of PPAA and PPB are measured by iodimetric. The results showed that we could get better product yield with the process of adding hydrogen peroxide slowly and adding catalyst. Good stability was observed in the aqueous solution containing stabilizator. But it is difficult to get solid products by precipitating their solutions.Their scale inhibition abilities had been determined by static scale inhibition experiment. The results showed that PPAA have better scale inhibition effect for CaCO3 in low concentration than PAA. The scale inhibition ability of PPAA for Zn2+ and Ca3(PO4)2 was same as that of PAA. Good scale inhibition effect for CaCO3 was achieved in low concentration solution of PPB too. And the scale inhibition ability ofPPB for Zn2+ and Ca3(PO4)2 was also improved.Bactericidal experiments showed PPAA and PPB has powerful bactericidal ability on hetertrophic bacteria within 24h, but it declined to 0 till 48h.These experiments prove that PPAA and PPB are really new type water treatment agents with scale inhibition and biocidal ability.
