Terpinen-4-ol is the insecticidal active compound of essential oil from Sabina vulg aril Ant.recent study showed that it is hold a high fumigative properties to housefly,m osquito and other pest .but the study on relation between structure and activity aboutit is still not done. This sdudy aim at relation between structure and activity to design and synthesize several type of terpinen-4-ol derivatives such as esters ,thioesters, amides and test the insecticidal activity to housefly .all work is one part of study on relation between stru cture and activity of terpinen-4-ol and got results as follow :1. Isoprene and Acrylic acid throuth Diels-Alder reaction, esterifying or through a cid chloride to Prepare 4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic esters, 4-methyl-3-cydohexocarbo xilic thioesters, 4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic amides.2.The three type of compounds mentioned above enolized by LDA then reactwith acetone to form l-(l-methyl-l-hydroxyl)ethyl-4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic esters, l-(l-methyl-l-hydroxyl)ethyl-4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic thioesters , 1-(1-methyl-1-hydr oxyl)ethyl-4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic amides3.Using sulfer as catalyst ,ethanethiol add to double bonds of 4-methyl-3-cyclohexo carboxilic esters,4-methyl-3-cyclohexocarboxilic thioesters,4-methyl-3-cydohexocarboxilic amide in accordance with Markownikow's rule to prepare 4-methyl-4-ethylsulfide-hexylc arboxilic esters,4-methyl-4-ethylsulfide-hexylcarboxilic thioesters, 4-methyl-4-ethylsulfide-h exylcarboxilic amide.4.Bioassay showed that 4-methyl-3-cydohexocarboxilic esters,4-methyl-3-cydohexoca rboxic thioesters were the highest activity to housefly and after (CH3)2OH was induced ,its activity reduced..and the double bond is necessary for insecticidal activity .
