With the method of metal electroplating, a special coat that evenly mixes one or several infusible solid grains to the electroplating coating is called composite coating. It becomes one of the modern surface techniques with great importance and has a wide application in engineeringWith the combination of excellent properties of the nickel matrix and those of particles incorporated, electroplating nickel composite coatings are especially appropriate for protecting some key components from special circumstances. Therefore this field of research is receiving intensive interests of toady s surface finishing and engineering communities. In consideration of the significance of materials protection as well as the great advantages and potentials that electroplating composite coatings demonstrate in this field, this paper attempts to deposit a film of composite coating with high quality of wear resistance or friction reducing on carbureted steel substrates by electroplating. With addition of Al2O3 particles and MoS2 particles to Watts bath, adopting machine blend and making the particles full suspend in the bath, the composite coating containing Al2O3 particles of wear resistance and MoS2 particles of friction reducing has been successfully prepared. The optimum parameters were established by the means of perpendicular tests. The experiment results showed that the composite coating has better wearing capacity of wear resistance and friction reducing, and resistance to corrosion and oxidation, the capacity of wear resistance is better than pure nickel coating and 45 hardened -steel, the capacity of friction reducing is more agreeable than copper and aluminumThe influence of plating parameters on the capabilities and composition were analyzed. With the help of SEM JXA-840A and advanced metallographical microscope, wear mechanism of theNi-Al2O3-MoS2 composite coating were studied, and the sediment principle of no conducting particles was primitively discussed.
