Being one of the most promising one-dimensional nano-materials, Carbon nanotubes have attracted much attention for their special performance. But due to insolubility and too high molecular weight, their chemical properties still remain a maze to scientists, which has become an obstacle to their application. In this thesis, solid-phase mechanochemical reaction was used to modify CNTs for the first time and several good results were achieved as follows:(1) Carbon Nanotubes were used to react with strong alkali in Wig-L-Bug for the first time and carbon nanotubols-CNTs modified with poly-hydroxyl groups have been prepared and well characterized with IR, Raman, UV spectroscopy and so on. The concentration of reacted C atoms was determined with XPS. (2) Carbon Nanotubols were found to be aligned orderly and uniformly through self-assembling in meso-scope revealed by SEM and TEM, which proves an easy way to get aligned carbon nanotubes.(3) Carbon nanotubols can undergo Pinacol-rearrangement reactions when boiling with acid. A possible mechanism was suggested. (4) The solid-phase mechanochemical reaction can also be used to produce fullerols, an important derivative of fullerene, simply and economically and greenly. And fullerols clusters in meso-scope were found in solid for the first time. Their reaction between melted KOH and carbon nanotubes or C60 was proved be effective also. Also, a new [60]fulleropyrrolidine was synthesized and characterized. A photovoltaic device was fabricated with MEH-PPV doped with it, which showed better performance than that with pure MEH-PPV.
