Stitching Foam-Core Sandwich is a new kinds of sandwich construction. It is light in weight, low-cost, it has higher strength and stiffness with good impact resistance and water resistance. These advantage make it excellent materials for control surface, wing and skin of airplane.Mechanical properties of Stitching Foam-Core Sandwich, due to stitchs, is quite different from conventional laminates and Foam-Core Sandwich. Therefor, many tests need to be conducted. It's failure mechanism and strenth theory still not clear. Based on the reasons, study on mechanical behaviors of Stitching Foam-Core Sandwich was carried out.The main work as following:.1. Based on the homogenization method, the basic elastic properties prediction theory and method for stitched composite laminate were discussed. A finite element model was established to predict the stiffness of stitched composite laminates.2. A computing model was estabilished using equivalent inclusion theoretics to predic the stiffness of stitched foam-core. Basic analytic solution was achieved using Mori-Tanaka method.3. Software was developed to predict the Foam-Core Sandwich's stiffness with different stitching parameter or performance parameter.4. The basic experiments were conducted to evaluate mechanical properties of stitched composite laminates and Stitching Foam-Core Sandwich, and the experimental results were presented.5. The special characteristics of the failure of stitched composite laminates and Stitching Foam-Core Sandwich were further studied based on the experimental results, and its mechanism is explroed.
