Surface modification treatment of pure magnesium by solid diffusion treatment(different of time, temperature and diffusant) was researched in this paper. The microstructures of alloying layer were investigated by OM,SEM,EDSand XRD; the microhardness of alloying layer were investigated by MH-5 microhardness techniques; and the corrosion behavior of specimen were researched. The results indicated that the alloyed layer has formed near the surface of pure magnesium after the treatment of different diffusing powder. The alloyed layer was mainly composed of the solid solution and the intermetallic compounds. The alloyed layer not only increases the microhardness values near surface of the specimen, but also obviously improves its corrosion resistance in NaCl solutions. When the diffusion is the series of ZnAl50, Us corrosion resistance and microhardness values near surface of the specimen are superior.
