The magnetic-abrasive finishing is a new type of processing method assisted by magnetic field used for polishing workpiece surface. This paper analyzes the forces acted on magnetic-abrasive by electronic-magnetic theory.A lot of experiments are carried out on the basis of developing magnetic-abrasive finishing apparatus for processing the external and internal surface of workpiece. The influence of technology factors, such as abrasive amount, magnetic field strength, work clearance, mean diameter of magnetic abrasives, and machining fluid on magnetic-abrasive finishing characteristics is investigated. A new technology method is applied to improve the finishing pressure when the nonferromagnetic substances workpieces and machined. Nonferromagnetic substances compared to ferromagnetic substances, it has been determined that the finishing characteristics are equal qualitatively, but are different quantitatively. As a result, the surface roughness before finishing Ra0.825um was improved to 0.045um in the case of grinding ferromagnetic workpiece (low-carbon stee1:45)and Ra0.434um to 0.096um in the case of nonferromagnetic workpiece(stainless steel: 1 Cr18Ni9Ti).
