Membrane technology is a new and efficient separation technology and has experienced rapid development in recent years, in which the bipolar membrane developed very quickly as a new membrane. This thesis mainly explores the possibility of applying the bipolar membrane technology to displace the traditional ion exchange process in the Vitamin production.The basic theory and the industrial application of the electrodialysis and the bipolar membrane were firstly reviewed. The pollution and the cleaning of the membrane were also discussed. Secondly, based on the theory and the character of the bipolar membrane, it was applied in the Vitamin production. The effects of some processing parameters, such as pH value, the current efficiency, the membrane flux, the inverting efficiency and caustic concentration, on the conversion efficiency were investigated. The experimental results show that the bipolar membrane can displace the ion exchange to transform the gulconic sodium into the gulconic acid. Under the experimental condition of current-voltage of 28V, when the concentration of the gulconic sodium is 70g/L, the working time is 16min, the pH of the solution is about 1.2, the concentration of the Na+ is between 0.3g/L and 0.4g/L, then the conversion efficiency of gulconic sodium will be as high as 96.5%. After the cleaning, the system can restore its performance and worked stably. The results indicated that the solution could satisfy the request for the following process.
