CO2 arc welding is a widely used welding method, which has advantages of highefficiency, low energy consumption, low hydrogen, insensitive to rust. Particularly, the short-circuit metal transfer is being applied in sheet welding and all positionwelding. So people are stimulated to do a further research on the drop transfer to findits principle rules. Analysis of the signal in the process of metal transfer is of great significance forselection of appropriate welding parameters, improvement of control system and thusthe high-quality welds. In this paper, the waves of voltage and current in seven conditions are acquired bytest , and then the noise in them are eliminated through wavelet processing. Through the analysis of processed waves, statistical characteristics of theshort-circuit metal transfer are acquired. By plotting the distribution graphs, therelationships between the characteristics and welding parameters are reached. Finally, by comparing the whole signals with the unstabilized ones, which had beenstudied, the laws about the breadth and periods are developed. Also the explanationabout this phenomenon is given. Those serve as bases for the reduction of theunstabilized transfer and the improvement of the quality of welds.
