The paper based on the analysis of the process of free orthodoxy metal cutting, analyzed the process of the two-dimensions metal cutting, utilized the fundamental idea of FEM, and established the FEM model of the orthodoxy cutting. Simulated the process of the orthodoxy cutting (through the cutting tool against the work contacts up to the shear angle taking shape) precisely and vividly through the technology of digital simulation which based on the large software ANSYS. By means of the technique, it is achieved the series simulation in various conditions by changing the cermet cutter's geometry parameters, and cutter structure & geometry parameters are reasonably designed through analyzing cutter' stress distribution of various geometry parameters and selecting optimization criterion. The cutting experiment is made in different cutting parameters conditions according to above reasonable structure & geometry parameters, and the cutting parameters of metal cutting process are optimized by the experiment criterion of cutter life and cutting force based on optimization technique.
