Rubus Parvifolius L,A small leaf—falling shrub,is one of the herb spices belong to the Rosaceae Family.Rubus Parvifolius L grows on hillside, roadsides,in the wild shrubs and grass. It is adaptable and rich in resources. It distributes in provinces of Hebei,Shanxi,Sichuan and the various provinces in the Mid—south and East—China. It,s a traditional folk medicin. Its root, stalk—leaves and the whole grass can be used as medicines. It has the functions of clearing heat, cooling blood, dispersing lumps, killing pains, favouring urine and eliminating swell. It can be used to treat enteritis, liver and spleen swells, jaundice, chronic hepatitis, rheumatoid bone pains, urinary infection etc. Modern medical experiments show that the water—extract from Rubus Parvifolius has the functions of stopping bleeding, invigorating the circulation of blood and dissolving extravasated blood. It opens up broad prospectsfor this kind of medicine for invigorating the circulation lf blood and dissolving blood lumps. Now,it is reported that only two triter- penoids were isolated from this plants. Modern medical experiments show that they exhibit in vitro antitumor activities of pencyclic triterpenoid from Rubus L.To better exploit and make good use of this plant,we have made studies of the constituents of the roots of Rubus Parvifolius. From the roots of this plant, eight compounds were isolated through solvent extract and chromalography. The structure of seven compounds were identified,by means of chemical and spectroscopic analysis ,as:β-sitosterol(Ⅰ),euscaphic acid(Ⅱ):2α,3α,19α-trihydroxy urs-12-en-28-oic acid;1β,2β,3β,19α--tetrahydroxy urs-12-en-28-oic acid (Ⅳ) 2α,3α,19α,23-tetrahydroxy urs-12-en-28-oic acid (Ⅴ): 2α,3α,19α,23-tetrahydroxy urs-12-en-28-oic acid; daucosteorl (Ⅵ);suavissimoside R1:28-β-gluchopyranosyl ester of 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxy urs-12-en-23,28-dioic acid(Ⅶ) and 2α,3β,19α-trihydroxy urs-12-en-23,28-dioic acid(Ⅶa).Five compounds are triterpenoids .The compounds Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ, Ⅵ and Ⅶa were islolated from this plant for the first time.Another compound(Ⅲ) is to be identified. We also used GC—Ms to analyze the constituents of the essential oil from the roots and the leaves of Rubus Parvifolius, finding out 28 compounds. Also, the study on the bacteriostatic ability of the essential oil from the roots and the leaves of Rubus Parvifolius had been carried out .the results show that the latter has bacteriostatic ability and the former hasn' t.
