The thesis consists of two parts: 1 .The synthesis of ABA type block copolymer with the method of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP); 2. Controlled/living radical polymerization in the presence of iodine or iodine- contained compound.1 .A series of macroinitiators, with 2-bromine propionyloxy on two ends, have been synthesized with PEG and poly- urethane oligomer, and a series of three-block copolymers are synthesized with the macroinitiators under the catalyze of Cu(I)/bipy system. And molecule weight and its distribution, block structure and thermal character of the copolymer were examined. The result shows that with this method the copolymer with block structure, controlled Mn and polydispersity can be synthesized.
