V2O5 was separated from stone coal by roasting with sodium salt in conventional technology. A lot of harmful waste dust such as C\2, HC1 and high temperature dust were produced in the process, what's more, the recovery was often lower than 50%. It is necessary to develop a new technique in which the recovery of V2O5 is satisfactory and there is no air pollution.Wet chemical separation method was used to separate V2O5 from stone coal in this paper. The mineral sample was ground to -0.074mm with a porcelain mill. With 160g/L of ore concentration and 5 minutes of aeration, the results of flotation were that the grade of V2O5 was improved from 0.5% to 0.7%, and the recovery of carbon was almost 100%. From the study of thermodynamic and dynamic process it was found that leaching process was possible and the equilibrium constant was obtained. Experiments showed that solid diffusion controlled the leaching speed. Leaching process parameters were of a ration 10:1 of liquid to solid, leaching pH 1, temperature 95 掳C, leaching time 2 hours. The recovery of V2O5 was 80% in leaching process. KMnO4 was used after the filter of leaching solution. This reaction was over when blue liquor turned into yellow. BPHA was dissolved into CHC13. The extraction process parameters were BPHA concentration 3g/L, extraction solution pH 1. The recovery of extraction was 99.5%, with a black red solid (VO2)2SO4 which was poured into H2SO4 solution with pH 1.5 to 2.2. The recovery of Vanadium was more than 95%.Without roasting operation with sodium, the chemical separation method did not produce C12, HC1 and other waste dust. The recovery of Vanadium was more than 75%, the waste solution can easily be treated by using CaCO3 or CaO.
