Synthesis technology and purification method and cleaner production of benzophenone by phosgene are studied. With help of 'onion model', one way study model is changed in which traditional study in seriers of chemical reaction- seperation process-heat exchange system- environment protection is carried out step by step, and two way study model is taken for chemical process research in which both chemical technology and environment pretection are always considered at the same time. We use the two way study model to combine the chemical technology with cleaner production principle to restructure benzophenone production system and replace the pollution end treatment pattern. Cleaner production pattern provides effective measures to solve the problem of lack of resource and environment pollution. In this paper Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction path and influence factors and chemical dynamics are reviewed as suitable theoretical basis. Experimental research on benzophenone synthesis is carried out including catalyst and solvent selection, ratio and temperature control. At further step systimatical analysis on actual production process are performed, the principles and several process units of cleaner production on the basis of technology and experimental study are applies for restructuring and improving the chemical process of benzophenone synthesis. The impurities generating mechanism is explored and corresponding technical plan is provided for determining and diminishing the impurities including diphenyl methane, triphenylmethane, triphenylcarbinol, 4-methy benzophenone, 4-chloro benzophenone and etc. in order to produce high purity benzophenone. The establishments of C-cyculation, benzene-cyculation, process water cyculation, Cl-recycle, liquid phosgene production and instant use technology, decanter design for seperation, vaperation-condensation combination and multi-heat-sources integration system and purification technology are applied to benzophenone production to realize the waste zero-discharge target. The technology scheme in this paper is the supporting system for state level innovation project of benzophenone, and most parts of the scheme are imployed in benzophenne's production of industrial scale.
