Glycine is an important intermediate chemical product, extensively applied in the medicine, agrochemical, food, fertilizer, animal feed and related industries. With the rising demand for dimethyl, more attention was paid to its production process and separation technology. This thesis describes a new technology of purifying glycine by electrodialysis on the base of summarizing several kinds of glycine-producing technology. We mainly study the separation of glycine from the mixed solution consisting of sodium chloride and glycine. At the same time, we use the new technology to remove ammonium chloride from the mixture of glycine and ammonium chloride in Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Industrial Group Co.Ltd. Results of our experiments are satisfactory and the yield of glycine is improved. We study the effect of different velocities of flow on limiting current, separation efficiency, desalination efficiency and energy consumption and we get satisfying results. The yield of glycine exceeds 92%, with 98% purification. Filtration rate is greater than 95%, with glycine escape rate less than 5%. We therefore obtain higher grade end products with less input. Compared to the current mechanism, the proposed technologyoffers higher yield, less pollution, significantly lower production costs. Such technology holds strong promise for further development. All these provide the basic data for industrial production.
