In this paper, the Jet Co-flow Packing Tray (JCPT) with four different types of perforations and different dimensions in open area were tested in two identical rectangular columns made of Plexiglas of 120mm in width and 270mm in length operated with air-water system. The influences of gas orifice flow rate F-factor and clear liquid height Hc on the JCPT hydrodynamics, including dry tray pressure drop, wet tray pressure drop, weeping, entrainment, and amount of liquid being lifted-Q, were examined. Furthermore, the non-steady state mass transfer performance of JCPT was tested by the humidification process of air by water. Finally, by the analysis of data and comparison , it was found that the JCPT tray with single cap and two holes(2×40mm×70mm) exhibited the highest mass transfer efficiency and best performances, compared with JCPT tray with single cap and one big hole(80mm×70mm) applied in chemical industry. In addition, correlations of wet tray pressure drop and Q had been obtained, calculation results from which were quite coincident with the experimental data, and provided computation guidance for industrial design and application.
