Focusing on the defects of Internal Circulation Reactor of slow process of sludge granulated during the period of start-up and abnormal operation of internal circulation for low gas yield when it was used to treat toxic and low concentration of organic wastcwater , an experimental facility of Additional Gas Internal Circulation Reactor has been designed and made. By detecting the parameters such as start-up period, organic loading rale and characteristic of granular sludge, the advantages of Additional Gas IC Reactor were explored in detail. The functional mechanism of Additional Gas IC Reactor was also analyzed. The capacity, efficiency, availability and amortizing ability of change on temperature, acidity and alkalinity to treat printing ink wastewater and municipal wastewater with Additional Gas IC Reactor were studied. The wastewater treatment process flows of two kinds of wastewater were also summarized basing on the result of experiment. The main conclusions are as follows:1.Compared to the traditional IC Reactor, the start-up period of Additional Gas IC Reactor could be shorten by 20% and organic loading rate could be enhanced by 25%. In additional, it improved the sedimentation rate, activity and mechanical intensity of granular sludge. The major reason was probably the excellent selection action to granular sludge for rapid velocity of up-rise water and gas flow in expanding bed of Additional Gas IC Reactor. It also increased the process of mass transfer between wastewater and granular sludge.2.The printing ink waslewaler could restrain activity of anaerobic granular sludge. The restraining level increase with concentration of wastewater. When ratio of printing ink wastewater and substrate of glucose is less than 1:4, the toxicity for anaerobic granular sludge owed to metabolic toxic one. When the ratio is more than 1: 2, it owed to germicidal toxic one.3.Under using glucose as substrate condition, the Additional Gas IC Reactor could treat printing ink wastewater which the chromaticity is 1500 with 90.9% removed rate on chromaticity and 93% removed rate on COD. On the contrary, the maximal volume loading rate was reduced by 20% and the anaerobic granular sludge must experience a domestication period which the concentration of waslewatcr increased from low to high.4.The volume loading rate of Additional Gas IC Reactor for municipal waslewaler is 18 kg COD/(m3. d) with the removing rale of COD above 80%.. Because of high concentralion of suspended COD, effluent could be discharged after operating of primary trcalmenl such as sedimentation, filtration etc.5. Unlike the change of temperature, the change of acidity and alkalinity affected seriously the operating capacity of Additional Gas IC Reactor for municipal wastewater.
