Starch-based foam is a kind of important biodegradable material. In this paper, starch was modified by increasing the plasticity, the toughness and intensity. And the extrusion foaming behavior of starch was also studied. On the base of the study of plasticization of starch, partly gelatinized starch and fiber were blended, then the last of starch was added to the composition, all of the composition was added to the high-speed blender to disperse, thus the fiber reinforced starch composite was prepared in which fiber was dispersed uniformly. The effects of fiber content on the tensile property was studied; Starch/PVA blend was successfully prepared by thermal process technology with proper plasticizer, PVA and plasticization technology, the influences of contents of plasticizer, PVA, water and carprolactam on the properties of physical mechanical, thermal and biodegradable were analyzed. After the studies of basic material, citric acid/sodium carbonate, OBSH and Azodicarbonamide(AC) were used as foam agents of starch, fiber reinforced starch and starch/PVA blends. The expansion ratio and foam frame of the foams was studied.
