China produces and burns the biggest quantity of coal in the world. It's also one of the nations where the coal is the main source of energy. The great quantity of coal is fired, which leads to SO2 pollution and acid-predicipation. Traditional technologies for removal of SO: gas show high efficiency, but investment on equipments is very big and cost for running is very high. Moreover, they are defined to purify the waste gas with high-concentration of SO2. When they are used to purify the waste gas with low-concentration of SO2, the cost will be very expensive. In the study, the waste gas with low-concentration of SO2 is purified by immobilized microorganism and the research laid emphasis on the premier biochemical reactor and the mechanism of process of the reaction for immobilized microorganism purifying smoking with low-concentration of SO2-The research on the mechanism of process shows the activeness of immobilized microorganism is higher than isolated microorganism. The biochemical reaction of immobilized microorganism is a rapid reaction. The process of reaction is mainly due to inner diffusion. Therefore, in order to increase the degradation rate, the influence of inner diffusion should be smaller or none.Research on the biochemical reactor and its capability shows the premier biochemical reactor is the fixed bed. In the fixed bed ,the premier operation condition is as follows: spray water intermittently ,the pH of the spraying-water is 4 and the temperature is 30~40. Under the operation condition, the efficiency of purifying of the fixed bed can get to 98% or more. The fixed bed can be suited to the great variation of the load of SO2, the fixed bed can run a long time continually when recovering the activeness of the immobilized microorganism by spraying water and pumping air .In addition .the capability of fixed bed can increase greatly when the fixed bed connects each to each...
