A series of manganese-containing hexaaluminates high temperature combustion catalysts have been prepared by traditional sol-gel method. At this method, it was studied that the vacuum drying and conventional over drying on the structure and activity of LaFeAl11O19 for methane combustion. Then, the catalyst of LaFeAl11O19 was prepared by glucose sol-gel, maltose sol-gel, homogeneous precipitation, and azeotropic distillation method. At the same time, LaMnAl11O19 was yielded by microwave and combustion method. The catalysts were characterized by XRD, B.E.T, H2-TPR, FT-IR and the activities of methane combustion. The results show that LaFeAl11O19 hexaaluminate could be synthesized at 1300 C for 2h by maltose as complex agent and vacuum drying in sol-gel method. Complete phase of LaMnAl11O19 was prepared by microwave and combustion methods. The activity of MgFeAl11O19 catalysts for methane oxidation is superior to that of the other catalysts. Its conversion temperature (with T10 at 495 C, T100 at 680 C) is close to the international excellent conversion temperature(with T10 at 450 C, T100at 600 C).
