The quality of filtrate and the production rate and period of filtration affect both the quality and quantity of the penicillin production very much.? Using vertical pressing filter in traditional pharmaceutical production resulted many shortages, such as high leakage, low efficiency and poor operational safety and did not satisfy the requirement of GMP and could not adapt to the modern pharmaceutical production with the requirement of high efficiency and reliability. So, the processing and equipment of decolorization and filtration in the traditional penicillin production are key problems that affect the penicillin production.Based on proper selecting filtration media to the pharmaceutical product, making analysis of all the factors affecting the filtration period and testing the discharge, engineering research and design were conducted in the processing and equipment of thefiltration of secondary BA of penicillin.1. A new process was developed in the decolorization and filtration of penicillin and lab tests were conducted by using the stainless steel as filtration media in the decolorization and filtration of penicillin under normal temperature.2. Focus on the key problems existed in the traditional process of filtration of secondary BA of penicillin and new operating requirement of the decolorization and filtration of penicillin, key filtration equipment in the production process, filter was developed and put in use. After a series tests in the production under a certain condition, the data about filtration period and the thickness of filtration cake so as to the filtration pressure was collected. Based on the analysis of the collected data, optimized filtration processing parameters and operating stages and process of decolorization, filtration and washing of penicillin were confirmed.The new process of the decolorization and filtration of penicillin was proved to be with high efficiency, better product quality and better automation during the production test.
