1.Asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reaction of alkenesThe attempt of asymmetric Friedel-Crafts reaction of ethylene and cyclohexene using asparatic anhydride hydrochloride or N-ethoxycarbonyl α-aspartyl chloride β-ester as acylating reagents has been made. The influence of the reaction conditions such as temperature, solvents and the nature of the catalysts was discussed.2. Small organic molecules as catalytsts for the asymmetric directed Aldol reactionsA novel catalyst of (4R)-(α-naphthalenylmethoxy)-(S)-proline has been designed aad synthesized, which was used in direct asymmetric Aldol reaction.. Good yields and ee's were obtainted.A chiral catalyst bearing C2 symmetry has been designed. The attempt of preparing this compound is described.α,α,α-Trifluoroacetophenone was found to undergo asymmetric Aldol reaction wife acetone in the presence of catalytic amount of proline. The related investigation is on going.
