A series of solidified alkali catalysts were successfully synthesized and were investigated by the reaction of propylene oxide and ethyl acetate.MgO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst samples with different MgO loading have been prepared by impregnating γ-Al2O3 with magnesium nitrate solution and then calcining. It is proved that MgO has the monolayer character on -Al2O3, and experimental results show that the utmost monolayer dispersion capacity (threshold) of MgO on -Al2O3 is 0.080gMgO/100m2-Al2O3. A new monolayer crystal lattice model was proposed to calculate the threshold of MgO on -Al2O3, and the calculated result shows good agreement with the experimental value. The base amount of the catalyst with the threshold loading is much greater than that of -Al2O3carrier, and its base strength is also higher.The in situ surface synthesis of hydrotalcite in the pores of γ-Al2O3 was prepared. The urea method was the best method. a series of factors about surface synthesis of hydrotalcite, such as aging time, aging temperature, the mol ratio of the raw materials and the concentration of the raw materials was investigated. The samples have been characterized by XRD ,DTA-TG and IR. Experimental results show that the aging time is a important fact to surface synthesis of hydrotalcite. The aging time was extended to 8h, the peaks of NH4Al(OH)2CO3?H2O appeared. The intensity of the peaks of NH4Al(OH)2CO3?H2O increases with the extending of the aging time. Under the conditions of higher aging temperature ,higher concentration and moderate mol ratio, the integrated form of hydrotalcites can be synthesized.The catalyst of MgO/γ-Al2O3 showed the lower propylene oxide conversion, but the catalyst of MgAl-LDO/γ-Al2O3 showed the highest propylene oxide conversion as high as 83.9%.
