A dilute liquid membrane system suited for the treatment of pulping black liquor is studied in this paper. The objective of this paper is to solve the dissolving-expanding and the difficult deemulsification of tranditional emulsion liquid membrane. The results showed that:1. It is totally feasible to study and evaluate the results of pulping black liquor treated by dilute emulsion liquid membrane process through dissolving-expanding ratio, absorption ratio and deemulsification ratio.2. It is totally fissible to treat pulping black liquor by dilute emulsion liquid membrane . This process can solve the dissolving-expanding and the difficult deemulsification of tranditional emulsion liquid membrane process effectively.3. The effect of the composition of liquid membrane on the treatment results is marked. The dissolving-expanding ratio of liquid membrane increases with surfactant dosage, the ratio of oil to inner water phase and the concentration of inner water phase increasing.4. The effect of the operation conditions on the treatment results is marked too. The increase of rotate speed during the preparation of emulsion liquid membrane can make deemulsification difficult. It is not good for the separation of pulping black liquor that mixing time is too long or too short and rotate speed is too high or too low during the mixing of emulsion liquid membrane and pulping black liquor.5. The effective methods which can decrease the ratio of oil to inner water phase are those the concentration of inner water phase and rotate speed during the preparation of emulsion liquid membrane are increased and the mixing time is prolonged properly. Thus the operation costs can be reduced. But the ratio of oil to inner water phase should not be decreased too much in practise. That dissolving-expanding ratio of liquid membrane increases will make separation efficiency drop reversely.6. When pulping black liquor is treated by emulsion liquid membrane used AN-1 as surfactant, adding a little Additive L or WN-1 can decease the dissolving-expanding of emulsion liquid membrane, deemulsificate easily and improve separation effect. These additives should not be added too much, otherwise those can decrease the stability of emulsion liquid membrane and deteriorate the separating process and effect of pulping black liquor.7. The dissolving-expanding of emulsion liquid membrane used TJ54 as surfactant is slightly less than that used AN-1 as surfactant The treating effect of the former is super to that of the latter. In addition, the deemulsification of the former is easier than that of the latter. However, it is easy to deemulsificate during separation for the former. That both kinds of surfactant are mixed in some proportion can overcome the shortcoming of only one kind, which can optimize the perfirmance of the dilute liquid membrane.
