In order to ease up overnutrition of water bodies, open up an economical and effectual technology of nitrogen removal is important to us. The paper discuss the mechanism of nitrogen removal by simultaneous nitrification and denitrification(SND) and study the various factors affecting SND in detail. Optimal operating parameters were achieved in static and dynamic reactor. Experiments testify that SND are more economical and effectual for many reasons in comparison with tradition activated sludge method, SBR and A/O systems. Finally, a simulant rebuild of an actual wastewater treatment plant that is tradition activated sludge method is done to show that the technology of nitrogen removal by simultaneous nitrification and denitrification is valuable.
