Study On Synthesis, Structures And Properties Of Vanadium Compounds

Diabetes is serious to us because it is a kind of sickness which shows that decompensating is not in order. it is threatening our health. In recent years, it is found that the vanadium compounds can play an important role in controlling the level of blood sugar because they are insulin-like. This action is testified not only in the animals experiments but also in the clinical experiments. Moreover, they can make it on both model 1 and model 2 of diabetes. But considering some kinds of vanadium compounds being poisonous, Finding out the new, high-absorbed, low-noxious vanadium compounds should be a great job. IIn order to further explore the structure-activity relation of the vanadium compounds to diabetes, six novel vanadium compounds was synthesized, and its chemical formulates are listed as below.(I)K6V10O28·9H2O(II)K6V10O28·10H2O(III)K5HV10O28·10H2O(IV)K4[VO(C3O4H2)2]2·8H2O(V)K3[VO(O2)2]2(OH)·H2O(VI)K[VO(O2)(C6H6O7)]·H2OThe first three compounds are part of decavanadate, which has a cage-sturcture for the anion. The fourth one is a vanadium(IV) compound with color bule. The fifth one is a bisperoxovanadium(V) compound and the last one is belong to single-peroxovanadium(V) compounds.The characterization and property (X-ray, IR, UV-vis,) of the compounds are described. At the same time, the electronic structure and bonding properties of the anion of the compounds (II),(IV),( V)and(VI) by quantum chemistry calculation are also discussed.The study on the structures of the compounds show that the vanadium atoms form different coordination environments: tetraangle pyramid, tetraangle bicone, pentaangle pyramid and pentaangle bicone. Moreover, the interacts between K and O make the molecule more stable.
