The Government of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has attached great importance to sewage treatment since it was established. Now,every day the great deal of biosludge is produced, while the 115.2x104 m3/d sewage are treated, But the major method to handle sludge inside the SEZ is direct drying technology with sanitary filling and burying technology. Experience has demonstrated that the current filling and burying method of unstable sludge has brought the problems to the landfill plant,while being unable to handle the surmounting sludge. We need to study the way to treat sludge and find a more effective and reasonable method which suits the local situation in the SEZ.On the basis of an in-depth understanding of the current sludge treatment in the SEZ and sludge drying technologies both at domestic and abroad, the study report outlined two drying schemes. After comparison and summarization of the technologies and cost of the two schemes, the author recommended the Andritz Drum Drying System (the second scheme), which is technologically reliable with rational cost and better result. The following is the major index of the scheme: treatment capability: 30t/d dried sludge ( 150t/d mud cake with 78% water) site: inside the Luofang Sewage Treatment Plant; Size: 2000m2; technology applied: Andritz Drum Drying System total investment: 69,755,300 RMB yuan; managing cost per unit: 959RMB/t; manufacturing cost l,183.30RMB/t (added treatment cost 0.10 RMB/m3 if 77x104 m3 sewage is to be treated per day)The report also evaluated the social, environment and economic results of the project; and made numerous market surveys during the research; analyzed and predicted the market prospect of the dried products. In conclusion, the author summarized the project and suggestted from the perspective of the implementation to the decision-making authorities for further study and reference.
