In this article. ten novel lanthanide complexes supported by guanidinate and amidinaleligands were systhesiscd and characterized. Bight complexes among them were furthercharacterized by X-ray diffraction. And the catalytic activities of some complexes for thepolymerization were tested.1 Three anion-type bis(guanidinate) monochloride lanthanide complexes. [Pr2NC(N Cy)2]2Yb(Cl)2Li(TMEDA) (1) and [(CH2)5NC(NPr)2]2Ln(Cl)2Li(TMEDA) (Ln =Yb (2). Nd(3)) (Pr = isopropyl, Cy = cyclohexyl), were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis. IR spectroscopy, 'H-NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.2 Six homoleptic guanidinate lanthanide complexes. (guan)3Ln (guan = (CyN)2CNPr2. Ln=Yb(4), Nd(5): guan = (PrN)2CNPr2. Ln = Yb(6). Nd(7): guan = (PrN)2CN(CH2)5, Ln = Yb(8), Nd(9); ). were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and H-NMR spectroscopy. Four of them were further determined by X-ray diffraction.3 A new two-nuclear bridged-bis(amidinate) monochloride complex {[SiMe3NC(Ph)N (CH2)3NC(Ph)NSiMe3]YbCl}2(THF)(10) was synthesized. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy. H-NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.4 The catalytic activities of homoleptic guanidinate lanthanide complexes (4-9), for the ring-opening polymerization of caprolactone were explored. And the mechanism of the polymerization was proposed by the end group determination.5 The copolymeriztions of styrene and 4-vinyl pyridine, initiated by [(PrN)2CN(SiMe3)2]2Yb(Me)2Li(TMEDA)(11), were tested.
