Nano-particles are a new subject interested in material sciences, while organic sulfur-rich compounds are found having novel electronic, optical and redox properties. Surface modification of these functional organic compounds to the nano-materials will be greatly expanded in material chemistry used for mircroelectronic device, chemical sensor and biochemical label. In this paper, CdS nanocrystals were surface modified with poly(nickel tetrathiooxalates) [Ni(TTO)]n and poly(nickel dimioxamide) [Ni(DTO)]n respectively by layer-by-layer assembling technique. These nano-materials were characterized by IR, TEM, fluorescence emission spectra , XPS and EPR , and the room temperature conductivity of CdS-(NiTTO)n was also studied. Moreover, gold colloid modified with TTFs have been prepared and characterized by IR, UV-vis, TEM, fluorescence emission spectra and Raman, and electrochemical behaviors of the surface modified gold colloid and electrode were also studied.
