In this paper, an innovative method of synthesis of glyoxylate with the material of oxalic acid and glyoxal through electrolysis is studied with the equipment of press filter whose anode and cathode is holery graphite and pure lead respectively. It has been investigated that the current efficiency, product efficiency and quality has been influenced by the voltage of anode and cathode, temperature, current density, transferring rate on the surface of electrode, adding agent and concentration of glyoxal and hydrochloric acid. This simple and high effective method is about the technics of activation of cathode and treatment with ionic film, through which the life-span of ionic film is prolonged and the cost is cut. At the same time, one power can drive two electrodes so that the efficiency of time and space is enhanced. The result shows that when the current of anode and cathode is around 3000-4200 A/m2 and 800-1200 A/m2 respectively and transferring rate on the surface is 1.0m/s and the cathode electrolyte is the saturated oxalic acid and the anode electrolyte is solution of 20% glyoxal and 2~3mol/l hydrochloric acid and the temperature is between 20-25 ℃, the efficiency of anode and cathode is around 50% and more than 80% respectively and chemical yiels is better than 92%. The products manufactured by this method are much better than the domestic products and are almost the same as the products overseas in quality.
