Oxidation of SO2 and NOX by photocatalyst is a new method, but the reports about the method is not very more. In this paper, a new style complex photocatalyst was prepared and examined. At last, the new style catalyst particles and thin film was applied to degrade sulfur dioxide and nitricoxide. In this paper, the methods of preparing TiC>2 and TiO2/ZnFe2O4 nano-particles and thin film coated on glass-plate and silicon-plate were investigated. Two methods were introduced to prepare TiO2 and TiO2/ZnFe2O4 nano-particles in the job: sol-gel and sol-gel-citric method; Ti(OC4H9)4 hydrolyzation and hydrolyzation-citric method. The difference between both methods is the different dominant status of water and ethanol in the reaction system. Uniform transparent glass-plate and silicon-plate thin film were separated prepared using dip-coating and spin-coating method by sol-gel or sol-gel-citric process. The form and appearance, crystal type, particle diameter and unit cell parameter were measured using XRD, TEM, AFM, XPS and BET. The photocatalytic activities were examined by degradation of alizarin red in sunlight and ultraviolet light. The condition on preparation of catalyst particles and thin film can be confirmed. To degrade sulfur dioxide and nitricoxide by complex catalyst particles and thin film coated on silicon-plate, the thin film shows its excellent activity. Ninety-five percent of sulfur dioxide and ninety percent of nitricoxide can be degraded by thin film's photocatalysis. The thin film was used several tims, but its form and appearance and photocatalytic activities is still excellent. At last, a mechanism was given to explain the degradation of sulfur dioxide and nitricoxide by photocatalyst.
