Abstract: As an important part of the ecology research, Restoration Ecology is increasingly becoming a highlight in this filed. Because of the special geographical position and topographical conditions in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley, there are some serious environmental problems, such as hot and dry climate, sparse vegetation, and grave soil erosion. This region is a typical fragile district of ecological environment of southwest in China. What's more, the extensive human activities cause serious environmental degradation. Therefore, taking Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley as the case in this paper, with the comprehensively applied Restoration Ecology, Geo-informatic Tupu ,Theory and 3S technology, an analysis was carried out on the assessment and restoration in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley.The research contents of the paper mainly involve the driving force analysis of degraded ecosystem, assessment of degraded ecosystem as well as degraded ecosystem restoration and rehabilitation study. In order to achieve the research aim, this paper realizes the interrelation and integrity of macro and micro information by the application of RS, GPS and GPS combined with outside survey. Through setting up comprehensive analysis and exploration, the assessment and classification of degraded ecosystem and the path of restoration and rehabilitation of degraded ecosystem are studied deeply.There are some conclusions as follows:甌he degradation of ecosystem is the result of both of nature and human beings in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley. The intense interfere of human beings and maladjusted man-land relationship brings on the serious ecosystem fragile and degradation.There is grievous ecosystem degradation in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley. Thepercentage of severe degraded and the extremely severe degraded area account for 46.7% of the whole Dry-hot Valley area.The degraded ecosystem should adopt different measures for different degraded ecosystem types, which including self-restoration method for severe degraded and the extremely severe degraded ecosystem, reclamation and rehabilitation methods for light degraded and moderate degraded ecosystem.
