TNT and RDX are the most widely used two explosives in recent years. But they are noxious and baneful . So they will must do much harm to human health and environments during the preparation and application. Studies showed that nanosized TiO2 is the effective photocatalyst in purifying the contaminated water. In this paper the trails of degradations of the two main powder by nano- TiO2 photocatalytic oxidation process are made in a small way. The effects of surface on photocatalyst activity are investigated. In the first step of the experiment nine kinds of TiO2 powder in total are prepared by the sol-gel method ,namely free additives, adding polyethylene glycol(PEG), adding urea-formaldehyde and their respective three temperatures 440℃,490℃ and 540℃. Then the TiO2 powder in aqueous suspention decomposes the TNT and RDX respectively under irradiation of UV-light. The same experiment is conducted with only UV-light playing. By analyzing the results a few conclusions can be reached as follows:Nano- TiO2 do have high photocatalytic effectiveness both on TNT and on RDX.;Organic polymer affect the photocatalytic activity of the nano-TiO2. Nine of TiO2 catalysts with different surfaces can not keep the same activity on the different subjects-TNT and RDX. But the one with PEG and calcined from 490℃ is the best one both on TNT and on RDX;Some more stable side-substance may emerge during both degradations. So this process should be improved.
