A new vesicant REHX to be used to produce foaming aluminum aiming at the problem of foaming aluminum production—when the vesicant is at the high temperature system of melted aluminum, it released hydrogen so quickly that the pores couldn't be pockety was studied in this paper. Then foaming functions and mechanisms of REHX and it's mechanical characteristic were researched .The relativity between pores' characteristic and it's mechanical characteristic was tested as well.The gained vesicant was approved to meet the need of technique by SEM,XRD.The results showed as follows: compared with TiH2, REHX has higher decomposition temperature and the gas releasing velocity is postponed obviously, and the pores can be distributed more homogenized. As the same porosity, the compressive strength of foaming aluminum has increased significantly.The property of matrix has an obviously effect on compressive strength, and energy absorption increases with matrix metal strength when the relative density is the same. Al-Mg alloy has a better energy absorption than Al-Si alloy and Al. As the same porosity, the size of the pore has no effect on the compressive strength of foaming aluminum with homogenized structure.
