This paper, the author detailedly discusses the released mechanism of adjacent seams, and qualitatively analyzes the factors influencing the released range of adjacent seams, and quantificationally analyzes them by means of the grey system theory; On the basis of data collected from mine, by using Neural Networks Toolbox(NNT) based on MATLAB, the author establishes BP neural networks model of overburden failure height, which has considered the effect of following factors: the properties of overburden above the worked seam, the mining height, the slope of coal seam, the length of working face, the speed of face advance, the mining method. The testing results show that the model can calculate overburden failure height accurately, accordingly this paper finds a new technology to calculate the Released Range of Adjacent Seams. By means of analyses of mining-induced fractures distributing characteristic and migration law of gas in overburden fractures, the author brings forward the principle of arranging gas drainage bore in adjacent seams and goaf. The practice shows that study results on the Released Range of Adjacent Seams can meet gas control needs.
