BaTiO3 is a basic electro-materials widely used in themanufacture of thermistors, mulitilayer ceramic capacitors(MLCC)and so on. With the development of technique of micro-electronics,the powders of BaTiO3 should have some characteristics of highlypure, ultrafine and distributing equably and so on. The performanceof electronic ceramics are influenced by these factors such as size, configuration, distributing status of powders of BaTiO3. Especiallywhen the size of powders of BaTiO3 reach nanometer grade, theperformance of electronic ceramic should been changed very greatly. At present, the anhydrous methods are predominated in productionof powders of BaTiO3 in our country. They are low pure and thick bythis method, which aren't satisfied with the requirement of techniqueof micro-electronics. The techniques of producing better qualitypowders of BaTiO3 are monopolized by the chemical factory of afew developed foreign countries. The nanometer powders of BaTiO3rely on import more than 90% in the market of our country. Soexploiting the method of synthesizing nanometer powders of BaTiO3with some advantage such as lower cost,on the more mildcondition, more simple operation etc that is imperative and actualneed of the development of electronic device. According to the above-mentioned aim, the paper, utilizing theadvantage of reaction in the water phase and the method of synthesisby one step with distributing equably and not to calcine, is attempt toprepare the nanometer powders of BaTiO3 by a synthetic methodwith one step in water phase under atmosphere pressure, stresses tostudy the process and parameters of preparation in the synthesis ofhighly pure and ultrafine BaTiO3 powders by a synthetic methodwith one step in water phase under atmosphere pressure with TiCl4,BaCl2 and NaOH as precursors. By means of XRD and TEM, wecomprehensively study the character of hydrolysis of TiCl4 and theimportant process factors to synthesize nanometer powders ofBaTiO3 such as temperature, the proportion of titanate to barium, addition mode , PH value etc. Thus the most optimizatic route ofsynthesizing the nanometer powders of BaTiO3 was achieved. Experiencing experiments, the BaTiO3 powders with particlesof average diameter of less than 60nm, purity of more than 99.5wt%,accurate themical coordination, approximatively spherical particlesare successfully prepared by the method. Compared with otherprocess, the method has a good deal of features such as shorterperiod, lower cost and more simple operation and so on. The results of this study have some significances in social andeconomical benefits, which puts forward a new direction for thedevelopment of production of nanometer powders of BaTiO3 in ourcountry.
