In the paper BNR (biological nutrient removal) is studied with MUCT process. There are a lot of Protozoa and metazoa that are indicative animal in water body that indicate MUCT process runs well. Denitrifying phosporus removal is found in MUCT process, it is beneficial for removal of phosphorus and nitrogen.Bench scale experiment is conducted to study removal of phosporus, ORP and removal of phosphorus have a relationship, change of ORP may reflect removal of phosphorus. Acetic acid and n-butyric acid influence release of phosphorus, when PAO gets enough volatile fatty acid in anaerobic zone and lots of PHB is synthesized in body of PAO, carbon source and energy can be supplied in aerobic zone. when nitrate is enough, denitrifing phosphorus removal starts. In this research treatment of municipal water with MUCT process is studied in Qinhuangdao. Functional conditon of pilot MUCT process is optimized, HRT and SRT aremainly considered. Removal efficiency of COD, NH4+ - N, TP and TN is studied in nine sets. The results shows that removal efficiency of nutrient is optimal in set 5 (HRT 10.9h, SRT10d).
