In this paper precious studies on the modifying of polypropylene have been reviewed. Nucleating agents modifying of PP have been studied with melt blending. Polypropylene modified by organic, inorganic and lanthanon nucleators have been studied. Effect of many factors on the mechanical properties, crystalline properties and processing properties of PP has been discussed, and the mechanism of modifying has also been investigated from the microstructure. The results of the study indicate: some kinds of nucleators have different effects on the different brands of PP. Nucleators used in this paper have selectivity to co-polypropylene (EPS30R) and homo-polypropylene (HPP). Organic nucleators, sodium benzoate, NA2002 and zirconium stearate, can decline the spherulite size and increase the properties of PP. Sodium benzoate has a good effect on EPS30R. On the contrary, NA2002 has a good effect on HPP. Zirconium stearate is a good nucleator for EPS30R and HPP, and can increase the properties of them. The dates of DSC indicate that sodium benzoate increases the crystallinity of PP, while zirconium stearate reduces it. Inorganic nucleator, zirconia especially treated with SBW-1, is a good nucleator for the two brands of PP. When treated with SBW-1, n-CaCO3 has a good effect on the properties of PP. Inorganic nucleator can also decline the spherulite size and change the crystallinity. The DSC curves indicate: zirconia induces the α crystalline form to convert to β crystalline form. Lanthanon nucleators have special effect on the properties of PP. When the content of cerium stearate is 0.1%wt, the izod impact strength of EPS30R is higher than EPS30R...
