Controlled/"living" radical polymerization initiated by poly(vinyl chloride) and second-butyl chloride has been carried out by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP).The paper included two sections:Firstly, controlled/ "living" radical polymerization initiated by poly (vinyl chloride) was achieved in different suspension systems. In the experiment polymerizations of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and butyl acrylate (BA) initiated by poly (vinyl chloride), catalyzed by iron dichloride tetrahydrate/triphenyl phosphine complexes were studied. We also researched polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) initiated by poly (vinyl chloride), catalyzed by iron dichloride tetrahydrate/CH3COOH complexes. Different suspension systems were studied and the results demonstrated that the reaction displaying "living" feature. The structure of copolymer was characterized by IR, 1HNMR, GPC.Secondly, controlled/"living" radical polymerization in polar solvents was also studied in this paper using second-butyl chloride as initiator, aluminum trichloride/iron dichloride tetrahydrate/triphenyl phosphine as catalyst. We added Lewis acid (AlCl3) during the experiment after adding the classical ATRP catalyst FeCl2·4H2O/PPh3, and researched the polymerization in different systems such as cyclohexanone, ethanol and n-butanol after synthesizing kinds of catalyst beforehand. The results showed "living" feature and demonstrated that controlled/"living" polymerization of MMA could be initiated by second-butyl chloride and provided...
