The "acid rain"is one of the most important global environmental problems which destroies the environment seriously. It is mainly caused by venting of SO2. The pollution of SO2 and "acid rain" have become a critical factor that restricts the development of economy and society in China. Recently more attention is paid to find desulfurization technology due to its important role in solving the problem of SO2 and acid rain pollution. Desulfurization from flue gas by carbon material can reuse sulfur resource, which is fit to the situation of our country and have a bright prospect. The critical factor of this technology is the development of carbon materials. In this paper, we prepared a kind of new carbon material from wastes of producing furfural: Spherical Activated Carbon(SAC-F), and studied the desulfurization technology by carbon materials systemically. We also studied the behavior of SAC-F by morden testing method such as SEM, XPS and BET. The result of this paper can offer some technical reliance and guidance in order to realize the industrialization of new carbon materials desulfurization.In this paper, spherical activated carbon(SAC-F) from furfural residue had been preparated , and phenolic resin was used as adhesive. The preparation parameter and the properties of flue gas desulfurization of SAC-F have beed studied.The resultsshowed that:1. The optimum preparation conditions in the laboratory were carbonization: 90 minutes at 450℃~550℃; attivation:30 minutes at 800℃~850℃; heating reat: 5 ℃~8℃/min; CO2 flow:180ml/min.2. The influence of preparation conditions(carbonization temperature, carbonization time, activation temperature, activation time, heating rate, flow of CO2)on properties of SAC-F has also been investigated.3. Simulated flue gas desulfurization experiments have been carried outResults showed that: The desulfurization performance of SAC-F is better than that of GAC-C and GAC-J(crashed) in SO2-8%O2-N2-H2O(g) system. The regeneration performance of SAC-F is better than that of GAC-C, and the time of high efficiency in flue gas desulfurization of SAC-F is much longer than that of GAC-C.4. The discrepancy of behavior of different carbon materials for flue gas desulfurization is determined by their preparation conditions and surface physical and chenmcal properties.5. The experimental results showed that the pressure of ACF packed in the reactor was ten to twenty-six times more than that of SAC-F and GAC-C at the same packing mass. The pressure of ACF was two to five times more than that of SAC-F and GAC-C at the same packing height. The quicker the gas velocity,the bigger the pressure of the packing bed was.6. The presence of water vapor and O2 plays a positive role on SO2 removal from flue gas by SAC-F.And the process of SO2 removal by SAC-F is not only take place physical adsorption. SO2 had been catalytic oxidated to SO3, then SO3 can react with H2O to generate H2SO4.
