Study On New Technology Of Emulsion Polymerization

Water-borne coating is an environment-friendly coating with water served as solvent or dispersing medium. This kind of coating has the virtue of little pollution and construction security. With the development of polymerization technology, the performance of water-borne coating is close to or equal to the performance of traditional coating using organic solvent served as dispersing medium. So more and more attentions are putting to water-borne coating.According to the idea of particle design, we have synthesized core-shell latex, and Tg of core is high, offering cohesion intensity; Tg of shell is very low, which is important in forming film at room temperature. Through TEM, we observed the shape of core-shell particles, and with DSC, we observed two notable Tg. In addition, we discussed the effect of emulsifier, polymerization process and temperature. Comparing to traditional latex, core-shell latex has better performance, even when the component of monomer is same.Soap-free emulsion is a novel emulsion polymerization, with the copolymerizing of ioning and nonioning amphilic monomer, we synthesized high content and high stability soap-free latex, and discussed the effects on seeding emulsion polymerizing, putting forward a new nucleation mechanism. When used as adhesive, high Tg and low Tg monomer, functional monomer and VAc all have effects on adhere ability.Using polymerizable macro-emulsifier in epoxy modifying, we can obtain grafting amphiphilic copolymer. This copolymer can be used as anti-corruption and hydrophilic coating. The effects on grafting efficiency, effects on anti-corruption and hydrophilic have been discussed accordingly.
