The simulated moving bed (SMB) is a new modern separation technology of chromatogramseparation based on true moving bed (TMB). It has the virtue of good separation ability, smallequipment, low cost. So the technology of chromatogram separation was widely used in chemicalindustry. Recently it was applied in fine chemical, including essence, chemical pharmaceutical, etc.With the study of the developmental actuality and operation flow of SMB, a technical flow ofSMB chromatogram separation is improved based the traditional flow of SMB, which makes theoperate flow of the system simpleness and practicality.In order to exert the advantages of strong calculative ability, fast process velocity of computerand the good anti-jamming ability, good dependability, modularization of PLC, a SMB distributedcontrol system made up of computer,PLC,transducer and intelligent instrument is designed, Thesystem constitution, hardware structure and function of the SMB control system are analyzed. Thecomputer,PLC ,transducer and intelligent instrument has powerful communication function, so thecomputer,PLC ,transducer and intelligent instrument can compose a network, which improvedlargely the extent of automatization.In the process of developing, the computer software is consist of "Kingview 6.05" and "VisualBasic6.0"in WIN2000. It combined the virtue of "Kingview 6.05" and "Visual Basic6.0", andconquered the shortcoming of weak command language condition of "Kingview". The "Kingview6.05" was connect with "Visual Basic6.0"by dynamic data exchange (DDE), the "Kingview 6.05"is the server, the "Visual Basic6.0"is the client, which made the control algorithm realized inapplied program of VB. The control algorithm was run in background as control module.At last, based on the actual data of production, the model of phenylalanine SMB separation isestablished with advanced BP neural network, and the model was certified too. At the same time,using the neural network model, the separate parameter and operate condition are optimizedtargeting the purity and recovery. The best control point was discovered. It advanced the purity andrecovery in practice.Now it was applied successfully in Jiangyin. The product phenylalanine was 500 ton per year. The purity andrecovery of phenylalanine exceed 98%.
