The composite electrolyte with nanoparticles is firstly prepared on the basis of nickel electrolyte in this paper. In order to disperse the agglomerated particles in the electrolyte, Ultrasonic of 40 kHz is applied. The composite electrolyte with cationic surfactant is used to avoid agglomeration again. Technics parameters affecting the performance of composite coatings are optimized in the orthogonal experiments.The content of nanoparticles in the electrolyte affect the performance most and the brush plating voltage affect medium,average diameter of titanium dioxide nanoparticles and electrolyte temperature have little effect on the performance of composite coating. The optimal technics parameters are followed: the content of nanoparticle in the electrolyte 20g/L,electrolyte temperature 20 ℃,average diameter of titanium dioxide nanoparticles d<30nm,brush plating voltage 11V. The micro-hardness of the composite coating is HV648.41 and the weight loss of the composite coating equals to 20% of pure nickel coatings in the same technics. Flat morphology and compact crystalline grains are observed in the nanocomposite coating. The nanoparticles disperse inside the composite coating and combine with matrix very well. The microhardness of nanocomposite coating in room temperature and different temperature are higher than that of pure nickel coating, wear-resisting property of coating is also superior to that of pure nickel coating.The increment of microhardness and wear-resisting property is due to the dispersion of nanoparticles and compact crystalline grains in the nanocomposite coatings. The codeposition theory of nanoparticles titanium dioxide and nickel ion is discussed in the paper. The codeposition of nanoparticles in the nanocomposite coating is thought to come up to mechanics theory.
